What is Dry Needling?

Dry needling is a safe and effective therapy we use to help relieve muscle pain and tightness. Using a very thin, sterile needle, we gently target “trigger points” — commonly known as muscle knots that can cause soreness, stiffness, or limit your movement.

By releasing these tight spots, dry needling can:

  • Reduce muscle pain and tension

  • Improve flexibility and mobility

  • Speed up recovery from injuries

  • Enhance overall performance

Are there any side effects?

Many patients describe it as a quick “reset” for the muscle, often feeling looser and moving more freely right after treatment. Dry needling is not the same as acupuncture — it’s a modern technique based on muscle and nerve function, designed specifically to help with pain relief and rehabilitation.

Occasionally, patients might experience some muscle soreness or slight bruising following their dry needling therapy. These symptoms typically resolve on their own within 24-48 hours.

Dry Needling vs Acupuncture

Dry needling is similar to acupuncture in that they both involve inserting needles into your skin. But while the goal of acupuncture is to balance the body’s energy flow (which may also help relieve pain), dry needling focuses directly on the muscle or source of pain. Unlike acupuncture, it’s not based on meridians or traditional Chinese medicine — it’s rooted in modern anatomy and neuroscience.
